screen closing issues

I have the latest "b" Omega drivers installed. I'm not sure what caused it, but when I close my screen, not only does it not turn off, but it doesn't even go to hibernation. I have it set to hibernate in Quickset, so I'm not sure why it's not working. I have SpeedSwitchXP installed as well.

Anyone have any issues with this?

It seems its the Omega drivers as others report the same with the new Omegas .. Either uninstall them and load the previous full Omega version or the Dell drivers .. Or you can just live with it the way it is if you need the Omegas to correct some other compatability problem ..

try ta pop open the center console and make sure the lil button that sticks out to turn off the monitor is fully functional. The lil button is spring loaded, and sometimes the spring is outta place or something.

Yeah, quite a few of us have this issue. If you don't want to pop off the console set the computer to hibernate or go to stand by when the lid is closed and try it there. My button works just fine with older drivers, and with the newest ones when it's set to hibernate or stand by but it refuses to turn off the monitor when set to "do nothing." I don't have a clue.

WTF. Now it works (turns off the screen), but when it comes back, it's ridiculously artifacted. I'm not happy with these Omegas; do the latest Catalysts have these issues?

I dunno, it appears that when the Omegas work they are the best, but when they don't............. well, you get annoying little errors such as these. I get perfect performance and none of these eccentricities using the Omegas on mine, so it is unusual.
Any way, as DM suggested just use the Dell provided drivers, they are old, but usually reliable.
Otherwise you can use the official ATI release if you mod them with Patje's modding tool.

I do not think this is actually pertinent here but if you get some sort of message about not being able to enter standby when closing the lid you can remedy that by uninstalling/updating the adobe ATM program. I fought wit this for a month or so before finally finding it.
