Fixed the links for ya...

Edit---> Seems like a good find. Happy to see that the 2nd one is using Dothan. But not that happy... because this means that IBM is one less notebook seller that is NOT adding anything new to their line up because of Dothan.

they upped the screen to a 15" uxga. NICE.
too bad the great battery life of the 14" shrinks.
and its a pound heavier. NOTSONICE.

Looks awesome, but $3450 for the model with 128mb vram?!
Well as always with IBM, you pay for the great worksmanship and reliability. That of course is not worth the over 1000 extra to some, but to others it is.

Yeah definately. Personally I trust IBM more than voodoo and most other high-end resellers. If I was loaded I'd definately buy a T42, wonder how much my educational discount would slice off of that?... probably not the $1200 I would need to bring the thing home heh

yeah if the firegl didn't have such a bad reputation for running games (rage3d.com forums) i would've gotten the t41p in a second. this t42 is still a great machine. ibm strong like bull.

thanks to NC State's excellent relationship with IBM these are the prices that I have to pay for the t42: http://www.eos.ncsu.edu/soc/purchasi...-side_2004.htm
I think ill be going with that 14 inch t42p for $2250

I just noticed that one of the Ts says it has a 9500

Typo? Or does ATI have something up its sleeve?
smakdown those prices are F****** unbelievable!!!

What is the 'ATI Mobility FIREGL T2'? How does it compare to the 128mb flavor 9700?

1. im pretty sure the 9500 thing was a typo and meant to be 9600 considering thats what is on ibm's website

2. yes these prices are amazing....its good that nc state is like IBM's number 1 college affiliate or something like that

3. the fire gl t2 is basically a rebadged 9600 with drivers more focused towards open gl performance and workstation programs. Gaming probably isn't as good with these drivers but i heard that if you switch them to omega drivers it will perform just as well as the regular 9600.

holy crap smakdown I hate you... so envious of those prices! I was just kidding about the $1200 dollar discount earlier but you actually get one!
Smakdown. Could you sell me one of these? I would like to pay extra to you.
