Using Laptop Optical drive for external drive on PC

I have a Toshiba Laptop computer with a bad system board and would like to salvage the optical drive and use it as an external drive on my PC. can this be done using some adapter connector to connect the drive
to the USB port on the PC ?

Laptop Model.....Toshiba L35S2316

DVD Drive..........Toshiba Model SD-C2202

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

You should be able to get an USB housing to fit the optical drive. Not sure about Toshiba though, many of their models are being locked and set as master so it could create some issue
