Laptop recommendations please.

Thread Starter

I'm looking for a laptop, for business use primarily but as long as build quality is reasonable doesn't have to be 'business' class as I'm on a budget.

OS isn't important as we have our own license and will reinstall straight away.

Needs to have at least 4GB of ram, resolution is more important than screen size but should be at least one of the 1600x900 displays. Not sure on CPU but an i3 upwards would be fine. Hard drive capacity isn't important. Will need bluetooth and Gb network.

The track pad can't be one of those seamless ones, I like to feel the edge of the pad when using it on the move.

The closest I've found so far is the Dell XPS 17 with an i3, 4GB ram, 1600x900 display, bluetooth and wireless upgrade (inc 5Ghz  wireless) and has USB 3. This comes in under £700 which is around the budget I'm looking at.

Haven't seen any other laptops get close to this spec for the money, unfortunately seems to be a 2 month wait to get one of these and I need it sooner than that.

Many thanks.

700 quids is not so bad. The only other brand I can think of is Sony Z (business models) - might want to check them out

cheers ...

How about the popular Lenovo T510/520, or HP Pro/Elitebook, or even Dell Latitude? I know you said doesn't have to 'business class', but I still think these 'business class' notebooks are better for typing and all that. Which might be important since it's for work.
