Well, that's an end of an era...

not sure how much i will be around here,

I find the new format very difficult to navigate, and too many adds.

We will drop in now and then

End of a era indeed

Cheers

Good evening, DRT.knockonwood.gif Are we still calling this thread that?

We had a nice seafood/steak dinner without my wife. She did

a training session at church. I did a full body workout after a walk

of the neighborhood. My wife also sold my Ipad at work for $500

It's an inconvenience for sure - may be we can change the thread title to "where have all old RET gone?" winknudge.gif

As far as format go Huddler is working hard on integrating the main NBF tools, it will need some patience for sure.

Good Hump Day good people - I am not sure I like the weather playing ping-pong with the temp thumbdown.gif

You've already changed the title... and seeing as this has never been about RET, I don't see a need to refer to RET mellow.gif

I'm also not sure about how often I'll frequent this thread. There were only a few of us left in DRT anyway. If it's just a place to talk, we have OT for that. I liked DRT, because it did have a purpose (for the longest time, until rep was restricted), and then it became a historic thread.

It's a shame... we were nearly at 150,000 posts, too smile.gif

You can move all your antique furniture into a new condo, but that don't make it home winknudge.gif lol

Not that I'm complaining... I realize changes needed to be made so that this fiddler/huddler/whatever doesn't bog down it's 640K of memory... although I wonder what was wrong with vbulletin. Did they go out of business or something?

Well, I may not disappear totally... depends on how often I will frequent OT and the likes.

That is something Huddler is looking into, to see if it can manage large threads in the future. One must realize that NBF is a new thing for Huddler, being a tech forum. Adaptation must work on both sides to make a better place - I think tongue.gif

And granted we have OT for many things and other things, many members prefer to be away from it winknudge.gif

There's always adblock wink.gif

Also I would suggest going into your profile and changing the posting format to BBCode. It's pretty much the same as Vb.

This is precisely the direction we are taking the site. Less Off topic outside of OFF TOPIC.

Vb Had the same problem with large threads. Which is why we started capping threads at 30k. So changing to vB would still give us loading problems.

The community has changed over the years. If we had the same regular members we did back in 2006, we'd certainly keep things the way we are. Unfortunately, things happen that we have no control over and we are forced to shape the site differently.

I would hope that the changes do not push people away, but rather embrace the new site as the start of a new era. I'll still be here, and I'll still review the new Alienwares. There's nothing I can do to stop people from posting. I wish things could have stayed the way they were, I really do. I miss the old times.. big time. And there's still tons of things about the new site I'm not happy with. But we're using this as a building block. We have a great engineering team behind Huddler, and I'm confident the changes will be for the best in the long term.
