Hi everyone.

I'm trying to upgrade my laptop's hard drive and ram. Is there place i can look to see what's compatible with my laptop? I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. I currently have  6gb or ddr3 ram installed and i wat to upgrade to 8gb and also possible upgrade my hard drive from 640gb to 1 tb. I'm looking at a few parts online but i would like to know if they'll be compatible with my laptop.

Thanks

For memory upgrades...crucial.com is a good place to check out..it will either scan your machine or you can manually insert data required and it will tell you the max amount your machine can handle and what type...note: unless you are running either a 64 bit version of Win Vista or Win7 (not 32bit)..any more than 3.5GBs is useless as the machine will not recognize nor be able to use it.. You mention you have 6GBs on there now, so I assume you are running a 64bit version of something..
It appears the HDD is a 640GB (5400rpm) SATA drive (2.5")..So , you could look for larger versions of that type but to make it slightly faster, look for a 7200rpm version, which would also be somewhat pricier

Thank you so much for your reply bro. Unfortunately i wasn't able to get any memory suggestion from crucial but this other website i went to told me exactly what i needed for memory and now that i know what i need for my hard drive i will be upgrading that as well. Once again thanks bro and have a nice day.

Also the site that I went to was this one.

ps. Other than the 2.5 size of the hard drive is there anything else i should look out for? like how many millimeters? How could I find that? Oh and lastly, I have to reinstall windows right?

This is what I'm looking to upgrade to,

You should be good to go with that....25" = 12.5mm
If there is nothing wrong with the old HDD you might want to consider cleaning up any junk you dont want on it then Cloning the contents onto the new drive...then keep the old one as a backup...should something happen to the new one after a bit, then its just a matter of popping the old one back in and you are good to go...the only thing is, that the old one would be current up to the day you cloned it..but better than starting all over again..
