Any Windows 7 USB Drivers available for L300D?

Are there any Windows 7 USB Drivers available for the Satellite L300D laptop as I'm having difficulties getting iTunes to recognise my 64GB iPod Touch (4th Gen) in that it won't let me sync from the iPod Touch to iTunes any more even after I got a new USB cable for the iPod Touch today.

Other than normal Windows 7 updates there is no specific driver for USB ports. Have you tried re-installing iTunes, powering down (turn off completely) your iPod and re-power it back on?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and that didn't work!azz.gif

I've also tried the powering down and re-switching the iPod Touch on and that didn't work either.

I knew iTunes was a pain in the ass but I didn't know it was THAT much of a pain in the ass where Windows is concerned!

Strange. I use Windows 7 (64-bits) and having zero issue with iTunes and iPODs (old 80gb and the 2nd GEN)

I take it that you tried different USB ports already on the Toshi. What I can suggest next is to un-install the whole USB controller from withing Device Manager and let Windows re-installing it. Check also and make sure that the notebook is not allowing to power down USB ports to save battery life wink.gif

I've tried different ports on the Toshi (one's not working any more as a couple of the pins were damaged by accident) and it's still not being recognised by iTunes.

Where do I find the option in Device Manager to uninstall and reinstall the USB drivers? (I take it I need to reboot the laptop after uninstalling and reinstalling)

Also, where do I go to check that the laptop isn't allowing the USB ports to power down?

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware manager -> there you should see the USB controllers / devices with many entries. Remove the whole caboodle from the top. After re-installation by the system, you need to go through each entry and look at the extra tab (advanced/ power or something like that) and un-check the option to let the system turn this device off to save power.

just wondering when using the usb ports with thumbdrives etc are you using the "safe to remove" icon in the task bar by the clock

saugen48, there are times when I remove anything USB related without using the icon as my laptop runs really slow and sometimes the icon doesn't show.

Plug and play devices such as mice, not so much of a problem, but storage devices can get screwed up from not using the " safe" feature

I've now got a new problem in that the in-built wireless can't pick up a signal from my router even though my mobile can pick the signal up along with my iPod Touch. I can get online on my laptop using a wired connection, but I'd prefer a wireless one. I'm concerned it may have had something to do with the uninstall and reinstall of the USB driver.

Now you can try un-installing and re-installing the Wireless Driver. I am wondering if you should not just have to bite the bullet and perform a clean OS installation

I'll give that a try although it's going to be a pain in the ass having to do a clean OS install if that happens... (is still curious how his wireless on his Toshiba got disabled completely even though it works fine with everything else including his netbook)

Try with a system repair first and see if it helps.

How do I do a system repair?

If it's any help, when I do the troubleshooting for the problem with the laptop hooked up via a Ethernet cable, I get a message saying that "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter" if that's any help.

Also, I know this sounds unusual, but if it's any help, the light that indicates that the WiFi is switched on still works with the switch in the 'On' position even though the adapter doesn't work itself.

Is there a possibility that somehow the adapter itself is damaged?

EDIT: I've since uninstalled and reinstalled the driver using Plug-N-Play and that didn't seem to fix the problem at all!cry.gif

You have checked the wireless is switched on with hardware (either a switch on the laptop case, or more commonly the Fn button and F2 button together).. On the IPod thing, have you tried another cable... Cheap copy cables don't always work, if in doubt use a proper Apple cable...

I've checked that the wireless switch is switched on (which it is) and it doesn't work with the switch switched on (I get the 'Not connected - No connections are available' message when I unplug the ethernet cable from the laptop).

I've tried to sync the iPod with both a third-party cable and a replacement official cable and iTunes still won't let me sync.cry.gif

UPDATE: I've taken a break for a week on trying to fix the problem and I was wondering if anybody knew how to deal with Zone Alarm Free when it comes to firewalls as I'm concerned that I may have blocked the wireless by accident and I don't know how to change the settings on Zone Alarm Free that might fix the problem...

You need to go back in the set up and reset to default. Hopefully this will solve the issue with blocking stuffs. Give MSE a try also. I left ZA many moons ago

ghn, where do I find the option to reset to default? Also, what type of anti-virus/firewall would you recommend for free besides MSE?

For Vista and Win7 the firewall that comes with the OS is a good two way, no need for anything else...as for the AV, I would suggest Avast free...excellent AV
