Interesting. The founders of Origin PC are ex-Alienware employees from before the merger with Dell, and have started a successful business of their own, getting "back to the roots" of what Alienware used to be: A high quality, customer oriented computer company.

So you're saying I should now buy from them?

If you can afford them that is. tongue.gif

Personally, I was looking into buying one a while back. Still might, that remains to be seen.

I've read some horror stories from Origins. It's not worth the extra costs. Sager and other Clevo resellers already provide stellar customer service and the same hardware for almost half the cost. Unless you really need that custom LCD cover (fugly IMO).

Give them time wink.gif I am for small dedicated resellers over the big ones - at least you get to talk to a real person when coming to support.

cheers ...

That's not an added benefit. You do talk to a real person when you contact PowerNotebook, XoticPC or any of the Clevo/Sager resellers. They are all personalized services and with various options for warranty. And you can easily request to talk to a sales rep you trust. I always request Justin N @ XoticPC.

And I believe all of them provide support for overclocking. So for the added price of ORIGIN, I don't see the benefits. But then again, I personally think for that type of money, go with Alienware, ironically, instead. The magnesium casing and often superior LCD, way better keyboard (Clevo keyboards have to be the worst among high end laptops, no debate), and Alienware now shipping with switchable graphics, the best battery life among high performance laptops. Just saying. And Alienware often provide much better sales/vouchers than what I've seen advertised from ORIGIN, if they ever do. And if you want to talk about a real person, Alienware has the on site repair service.

PowerNotebook, XoticPC , Clevo/Sager , Alienware .... they all have hiccups from the beginning. And they all build up good names with their personal services as you mentioned. Glad to see more and more resellers adding to the list like Origin (eventually)

cheers ...
