Metabyte doesn't own the rights (I don't think) to dual-SLI Voodoo setups. If anybody does, it's nVidia, who purchased 3Dfx. After all, 3Dfx are the ones who designed the system, and probably the reference design that most Voodoo 2s were based on. Later on I believe they actually manufactured Voodoo 2's themselves after they bought out that board-making company (can't remember name).
It's possible they could try to patent half-screen rendering, but I'm sure there's tons of prior art there too; I hear the DreamCast worked the same way, splitting up parts of the screen for different GPUs to render, supposedly with support for up to 16GPUs.
