No matter which malware or Av you use even cCleaner there are going to be some files that the malwarebytes, cCleaner & MSE can't remove. The only things that have stopped me or prolonged a virus were:
fear of mistake
lack of confidence of being able to deal with registry.
After doing your sweeps you have to take note of uncleaned issues, you will need the full address of the culprit.
In most cases a new file is added which you can remove
Other cases it has been edited or altered.
Some of the files that are in the registry when removed they recreate upon reboot, but will recreate the original file.
Just make sure you backup your system before making changes.
I'm not the original poster but the link that you provided helped me with a 2 yr old question
Along with 2 yrs of mistakes dealing with the "open with" problem
This 1 led me to
All I gad to do was use notepad.
