acer aspire 3680 wont start running!!!! HELP

Ok so ive had this computer for a little while and than one day it turned on went to the acer screen and than screen turned black and will stay like that for daysss! ive tried somany different things and nobody can help me. I can press F2 and go to the information and boot setup and other stuff if that information could help you guys please i really need a response so i can fix this damn thing! PLZZZZZZ

It sounds like your hard drive, or at least your operating system, is dead. I would suggest downloading an Ubuntu LiveCD and seeing if that will run on your computer (set your BIOS to boot first from the disc drive). If that works, see if you can get any data off the existing hard drive onto an external drive. After that, I'd suggest getting rid of the current drive and buying a new one, or if it's still under warranty asking Acer to replace it.

The download is a disk image, which you can burn to a CD. Then put the CD in your computer, go into BIOS by pressing F2 on startup, change the boot order so the CD/DVD drive is first, save and restart, and follow the instructions to try Ubuntu without making changes to your computer.
