Could be a corrupted driver...go into the device manager, delete the driver, reboot and let the computer find it own driver...Push comes to shove, it could be a bad camera too

ohhh last time it worked when i uninstall the driver and reboot...but only for yahoo messenger and  debut video capture software and not for the acer crystal eye webcam application. Then, the next day it didnt work again.

Then i tried updating my windows vista, installing all updates. It suddenly worked for the webcam application, debut and yahoo messenger.

I was very happy.Worked for the whole day and i thought it was totally fix.Next day,Its not working again for all applications.

Can it be software or driver conflicts? At acer support they have 2 drivers for aspire 4530, bison and suyin.I tried them both bixon is much ok.Then they have 4 acer crystal eye webcam applications.2 for bison and 2 for suyin.I just noticed that every time i install acers driver and reboot, when i check the driver its always a driver my microsoft.Does it have something to do with the problem? Can the computer on reboot finds automatically a driver on the net and not the desired driver? Hope someone can advice or help me.

You cant be running both sets of drivers, its one or the other. Either Suyin or Bison.....download and install System Information for Windows (Free)..it gives info on hardware components of your pc....When you have that downloaded, run it..When the SIW window opens, go down the list at the left and under Hardware you will find Devices...click on that...Go down the list on the right to Imaging Devices and there should be Acer Crystal webcam...double click on that and a new list will open..go down that list to find Manufacturer...it should say either Suyin or Bison...whichever..go back to device manager and delete all drivers etc of the one you dont have...reboot computer and give that a shot

ok i saw all the details about acer crystal eye webcam.Manufacturer says "microsoft". How to copy all the deatils on the webcam? i think free version dont allow...am i right? so what do i need to do about my webcam if its neither bison or suyin? pls help

I dont think you followed the directions correctly if you came up with Microsoft..it should have been either Suyin or Bison.

How long ago was the webcam working with no problems..you mentoned it worked for a day, but when was it working good all the time..
You could do a system restore back to that time (if it was only a month or so ago).

Go to Start>All programs>Accessories>System Tools>System restore..That will take your system back to the date you select, so any programs data you have entered since that date would have to be re-entered...once it starts the system restore, you MUST leave it alone until it is finished.

ohhhh it was working for a long time...i remember had the same problem once before and i manage to fixed it.It was so long that i already forgot what i did before.Last 3 days it stopped working.

Then tried the fix with the drivers at acer site.I uninstall the drivers and all application except for bison. Then reboot...many trials...aslo tried the suyin driver and application.I always uninstall and reboot.First, i manage to make it work for awhile...only for yahoo messenger and  debut video capture software.I added that application long time ago when the webcam was working perfectly bcoz my acer crytal eye webcam application only take pics and not video. So it did work just for awhile..then yesterday, i updated my windows vista thru windows updates. When i checked, the cam work for the acer application, debut and yahoo messenger.I thought it was already ok.Next day, without closing my laptop,i checked again..sadly,it was not working again on the 3 apllications.I did, what u told me...about SIW..thats why in my previous replies i was wondering why microsoft driver is the one being installed in the webcam.I went to device manager, click imaging device and click acer webcam..told me that the device is working. But when i look at the drivers installed..it says microsoft.i took a screen pic of SIW.acer crystal eye webcam info.jpgacer crystal eye webcam info2.jpg

Seen this on another forum with the 5520..
Give it a shot
Just purchased an Acer...same webcam problem. On another forum somebody suggested removing all pictures from the Pictures folder and the webcam will work. Sure enough as soon as I moved all pics to my desktop the webcam light came on. Webcam is working well so far.

It may be a bit drastic, but if you have all your data backed up and have copies of the Restore DVDs made, then do a system restore back to how it came out of the box..

i already tried moving the pictures but still the same...and i havent use the acer application for taking pics...im just wondering why even i installed the bison driver why it still dont appear? i dont have the copies of the restore dvd`s made. When i checked for driver on acer website, they dont have for aspire 4530 running vista home basic 32, they just have applications.

Did it originally come with Vista...if you havent reformatted the harddrive, then the restore partition should still be there...try Alt-F10

now its working again..i almost open my laptop bcoz someone on the net told its a loose connection. Luckily,i remember that i fixed it before with an updated driver by suyin (chinese version driver)....Wowww...all the 3 applications working now...debut,crystal eye webcam and yahoo messenger. My crystal eye webcam have only pic icon no video. Anyway.i have the third party software(debut)...I hope acer will not turn a blind eye and deaf ears on this issues bcoz from my experience i have seen too many people with this problem. Ohh,unluckily i didnt bookmard the site where i get the updated driver and application...thanks a lot

yup i agree...but i think for aspire 4530 no need for drivers...i uninstalled the driver and just install the suyin application v2091, although i found out that it`s bison camera..strange!@#$

it worked...can now use on yahoo messenger. But the acer webcam application was there and only the uninstall button. Anyway the crystal eye webcam application was just for taking pics.

I just installed a debut video capture software v1.50,it captures videos and photos and even screen.I think i will settle for that....thanks, GOD BLESS

Make a restore point whilst it is still running winknudge.gif Download a free Driver back-up add and save all the current drivers as well.

cheers ...
