m1710 motherboard - plugs for webcam/mic?

Thread Starter

hey all

iv been considering building a webcam and mic into my xps m1710 for some time.

installing the webcam in the bezel looks pretty easy with a handy dremel there seems to be enough space, even considering putting it near the power button if the bezel plan doesnt work out. anyhow..

there is 2 solder points on the motherboard that look like they are missing a connector. 1st one has 5 contacts and is labeled JDEBG1 the 2nd has 3 and labeled JDEBG2 to me this looks like where a webcam(5contacts) and a mic(3contacts) would be connected. does anyone know if this is true or know where i could find this out?? my warranty has run out so i cant email/call dell but, i can only imagine getting a confused silence from the less than competent tech support anyway...

this would save me foreseeable problems connecting the mic, and killing a usb port

cheers!

You would need to find the schematic of that model motherboard.

JDEBG1 sounds like some debug connection.
