Dell Precision M4600 - Intel XMP?

I am about to purchase a Dell Precision M4600 fairly loaded. I can get 16 GB of 1866mhz ram from Newegg for about $280 (can't afford the premium at Dell).

All of these 1600 and 1866 ram speeds are possible with Intel's XMP specifications as part of the Sandy Bridge chipset.

So, does the Dell Precision M4600 support Intel XMP? I'm leaning to the Yes side, because you can order Dell's 1600mhz version for it.

Got some confusing information though, that some 1600mhz ram can be achieved off of pure SDP settings - not Intel's XMP (but on Intel's site, it says XMP is how you get 1600 and 1866 out of the Sandy Bridge).

So... What do y'all think?

Thank you!

I ended up buying 4x Kingston So-DIMM 1866mhz. PLugged them in, and the machine booted with 1866mhz from the bat. Excellent! smile.gif
