Install XP in HP dv6000

Hi everyone,

I am trying to help my friend to install windows XP on his old HP dv6000t. The machine only has 1 GB RAM and is terrible slow running Vista.

The problem is the CD/DVD drive cannot read any disc at all.

I tried to use my external CD/DVD drive which can read the disc but the machine does not seem to be able to recognize it when booting up. (I already change the boot order for USB device and CD drive).

So is there any solutions for this problem? I ran out of ideas.

Thanks.

You can try removing and re-seating the drive, but looking like the device is failing.

cheers ...
