replacing keyboard?

Okay, I have a Compaq laptop just a few months old & my 6yo managed to spill orange juice on the keyboard...  dh took it apart, cleaned it out - for 2 days it wouldn't work well, then for about 2 weeks it was working maybe 99% normal, but now it's got serious issues again:

  • when I'm typing, zeros just randomly shoot up every couple of letters, sometimes a whole string of them, and

  • the delete key fires at random, frequently, and

  • the touch-pad will move the mouse correctly, but when I try to tap it to select something, it won't work (I have to hit the button below the touch pad)

so, what do you suggest I do, buy a new keyboard?  They are pretty cheap - but that won't help my touch pad problem, right?

Replace the keyboard first and see. Might have something to do with the touchpad not working right when the keyboard is bad

cheers ...
