Best out of two options? For playing FSX...

Thread Starter

Hi All

Which one, out of the following two laptops/notebooks, will be the best for playing Flight Sim X specifically?

1.

ASUS X52N

320GB HD

2GB RAM (DDR3)

AMD Phenom II x2 N660 Dual Core (N660, 3.0GHz, 2MB Cache)

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 AMD Premium Vision

(Windows 7)

2.

ACER Aspire 6920G

500GB HD

4GB RAM

Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0GHz

NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS

(Vista)

I have researched both graphics cards and CPUs but it seems one has a better graphics card but not the best CPU and the other has the best CPU and not the best graphics card :S

I also know FSX is CPU reliant which makes me look straight at the 3.0GHz which scores mid-high range ratings but then it has a low range graphics card. But the NVIDIA graphics is capable of running FSX smoothly but is the CPU good enough, the 2.0GHz only rates as low-mid range!

I have a strict budget, both notebooks are for sale on eBay and are very local for me so I have to pick one.

If neither will be great for FSX, which one is easiest to upgrade, if at all?

Any advice will be hugely appreciated as I'm not the hottest on the tech knowledge.

Many thanks =)

For flight sim, go with the best CPU. It seems to like high frequency over multi-core also.

Go with the core 2 duo. AMD hasn't had a powerful, good mobile CPU in almost a decade compared to Intel. It's a sad state for AMD right now. I doubt Bulldozer will change it either, Intel has been hammering AMD in terms of CPU and with no end in sight. AMD has their Fusion, but that's pretty much limited to netbooks.

So go with the Intel/Nvidia combo. You can't compare clock to clock from AMD to Intel. Intel can do a lot more per cycle than AMD can.
