"Super Hybrid Engine" does it work and is it needed on win7?

Ive just had to buy a new laptop after my other one died, a K52J running win7/64 bit.

Ive read what little i can see about the "super hybrid engine" and decided to try it. I turned it on, rebooted and via CPU-Z i noticed it did nothing, the CPU speed stayed at 900MHz all the time even running a prime95 torture test so it didnt seem to speed up or slow down according to demand.
With that disabled and just using win7s power profiles i could see the CPU going from that up to 2.7ghz under load and so on dynamically.

So, in short, (i) does super hybrid engine actually work and if so how? and (ii) is it worth bothering with on windows 7 or shall i just uninstall it?

If I am not mistaken this Super Hybrid Engine ding only works with ASUS Eee PC. So leave it to your Windows 7 to manage system load would be best.

They have been adding it to their SB equipped notebooks as well I believe. Even one of the G53 models I believe have them and on of the G73 now.

I've an Asus Eee PC 1215B (AMD E-350 based) that came with Super Hybrid Engine and Win7. I ran Passmark Performance Test 7 and saw that the CPU mark was like almost 25% slower than other E-350 systems. And this was when I was plugged in and SHE had me on performance mode. So I disabled the Asus Launcher service, restarted, reran Performance Test and my scores were more inline.

 

While I had SHE on, I noticed Firefox was laggy, YouTube played kind of choppy. Now it's all better. So with Win7, disable SHE, at least when you're plugged in.
