Screws for Asus G53 Second HDD Caddy

As some of you G53 owners know it does not come with a second HDD Caddy and you have to order one which can be trying at times since its almost always unavailable. As well when you are able to order from Asus (which is usually the cheaper price $22.50) you do not get the included screws at all.

So just for your information you need the following two different size screws...

M2.5x5 (2 count) for caddy to chassis
M3x3 (4 count) for HDD to caddy.

I happened to order a bunch as its a pain to wait for Asus to respond so if anyone is out there and looking for them hit me up I should have a few left over. I ordered 30 of each just to have em.

Yup the whole thing is a pain =) waiting for the caddy come in and out of stock, being overpriced by some online and ebay sellers ($40+ for a caddy) etc. Not getting the screws and worse yet not having any documentation on the size is lame..... Took a little time to ferret it out. Find a vendor for just the screws in one location and making sure they are the correct length (HDD screws are actually wider but shorter)....

If anyone needs em just let me know will sell what I have left (or needed that is) for like a couple of bucks nothing outrageous.

As soon as they arrive I will do that, I should have 28 of the caddy screws and 26 of the hard drive screws left to give out at that point... should be enough for 6 more caddys.

I recieved my screws the other day and multiple different screws directly from Asus. There is a change to the size because there was some misinformation on the actual screws sizes....

First off the screws for the Asus G53 are NOT the same as the G73..... The HDD screws are but the caddy to chassis are not the same at all. Below are the correct sizes....

HDD to caddy M3x3 (4 count)
Caddy to chassis M2x3L (2 count) only uses two screws to secure..

I will be ordering a bunch of the correct screws M2x3L and when they arrive will post them in the for sale section for the G53 owners...

Incidentally if there are any G73 users in need of screws let me know as I have plenty of those now ohmy.gif

Hi there,

No I am all out of them but the info below should help you out....

M2.5x5 M2x3 (2 count) for caddy to chassis
M3x3 (4 count) for HDD to caddy.


http://www.laptopscrews.com/M2.5x5.htm Correction forgot this for the G53 as noted above these are 2x3L (long but does not need to be long screws at all you can just go by M2x3s http://www.laptopscrews.com/M2x3.htm

That site listed above has both the sizes you need not too expensive either. IF your not sure of the length just go for the shorter ones, for example there is a set of M2.5x5 screws (although not the size you need) listed that are like 5 bucks or whatever and another set that are 2.40 you can go with the 2.40 ones since they are just shorter screws.
