Please help, having problems with my Acer Aspire 7738g 4gb intel duo t6600. I turned it on and the following issue keeps happening. When the power is turned on the fans come on as normal and the hard drive and DVD power on as normal from what i can see. There is no lcd display or power, it is just dead. Tried external monitor to HD port and to VGA, nothing happens with this. The motherboard and video card have no signs of damage when looked at. Trying to work out what is at fault the motherboard or graphics can not test these due to not having spare laptop. Many thanks jase
Acer aspire 7736g powers on and fan dvd etc, but no life from the lcd screen.

Thanks for the quick reply. This type of Laptop has the Graphics card on a different board to motherboard. could this be just the Graphics card that has gone, due to the faults that i have mentioned, or is it the big cost of a new motherboard for sure? If this is the case does anyone know where i can get my hands on a replacement board as cheap as pos. There was a quick fix on a different page for symptoms like this, but it did not have any effect with mine. The quick fix was to take power cord out and the battery, then press power button for 60 seconds then to re attach power cord only and power on. Then power off and attach the battery then power up as normal. For a lot of cases this has worked. Maybe there is something different u can do on Acer laptops that has the same effect?
Thanks for the reply not to sure what u58 component is and how i would identify it? Have had good news with my computer was only holding the power button down for around 30 seconds when i did as above message but with 60 seconds for sure the laptop suddenly jumped back into life. The only problem I am having know is that it constantly keeps turning itself off when it does demanding tasks. I have looked for solutions on the net and have been told that it may be due to over heating. That the fan extractor has probably gathered dust. Will get back to you and let u know if my pc ever gets to its reliable self again after i have tried the following recommendations.
use a hair dryer on cold air to cool processor from when the processor is cold and see if it still cuts out when game is on.
if it does not then it is indeed an over heating problem.
use a hi power vacuum to clean out trapped dust, see if this works.
if not then strip the laptop and remove cooling extractor and fan and clean them out so that air can circle properly.
if this works then when refitting can replace the old compound solution to connect chips to heatsink for added coolness.
Will let you know how i get on when i have tried this.
Think it can only be over heating as it did copying and internet without any problems then when put on game cut off quite quick. is there any other things that can cause this, if so is there any more easy fixes out there? If so many many thanks Jase
