Is this CPU compatible with my BIOS?

Can anyone shed some light on this confusing topic?

Will the Intel Pentium M mobile T2400 2GHz 2mb 400mhz SL7EM work in my Dell Inspiron 8600? My understanding is the Inspiron 8600 and the Dell Latitude D800 are identical internally, so if the T2400 could work in the D800 it could work in the 8600. I'm aware that the Dothian Pentium M 755 2GHz 2MB 400MHz cpu AND the 765 2.1GHz model will work in both, I'm just wondering about the T2400. I'd hate to buy another CPU based on specs (socket, FSB, L2 Cache, etc.) just to find out it won't work in my laptop.

It is more like near-clone than identical winknudge.gif

Not sure about the I8600 can support more than 1.7GHz

cheers ...

I heard success stories about the Pentium M 755 (2.0GGhz) working in the I8600. This CPU was made for the LD800, and since the Latitude D800 and the Inspiron 8600 are Internally the same, the 755 should work. Now, as far as the T2400 is NOT the 755 so I would like to kno if anybody's had success installing one in and Inspiron 8600.
