video card / HDMI issue

I have an M17x with dual video Nvidia GTX video cards. My keyboard had been getting hot under the "W" key while gaming. It no longer gets hot and I had to reduce graphics to keep games from running choppy. I also lost my HDMI port. My question is.... Do I need to replace just the left side card? And does this card run the HDMI port? Or, am I looking @ 2 different problems?

if your comfortable opening up the laptop i would replace the thermal paste on both GPUs and the CPU, Clean out the fans and see how it goes.

not sure about the HDMI issue, since you seem to indicate the both cards are still working just at a lessor level ?

But since the laptop can function with just a pimary card if the primary was crapped, and you were running on the secondary perhaps the HDMI would not work.

What about running on the internal 9400 GPU ?
