Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 510, unfortunately the hard drive has died [repeated clicking, no access!]

 

It was an Hitachi Travelstar 60 GB IDE / ATA drive.

 

Is a WD PATA drive suitable as a replacement? e.g. WD 80GB Scorpio Blue 5400?

 

Are PATA drivces the same as ATA / IDE drives

I had missed the use of PATA as a name for ATA - should keep up better!
