Mechanic I know always forwards me computer repairs for his friends. Well the guy want windows 7 reinstalled and all is
videos, pictures, docs backed up. Everything went fine I install hp drivers with no problems. I restarted the laptop numerous
times because I was going to do the BIOS update last and didnt want any updates in the way. So, I ran the update, everything
seem fine and upon rebooting I get a black screen with the hp dvd, volume etc.. blue lights on and a constant beeping sound.
I gave it a few minutes and turned it off and tried restarting and same thing. This time i remove power, battery and cmos battery and power drain it. Put everything back and now the POS doesnt even power on. I do have 19.5 volts at the charger and the blue led thats around the charge adapter lights up but no boot...nothing. What could have went wrong and can someone tell me where the bios chip is located or where to identify it? Please.

Try searching the net for "Blind BIOS flash" and see if you can restore the previous flash version

That might have work when the computer would restart and just beep BUT now it doesnt boot up. Press the power button and just nothing.
The guy wanted everything updated and I should have skipped the BIOS. I've never had this problem before on any laptops/pc

I would remove the ram modules and using just one in different slot. Alternate the modules just for kick also

First question is

Does the laptop turns off after few seconds, or it stay " turned on " but there is no video?

If the answer is yes, and that happen because of wrong flashed BIOS chip you can try to do this trick sometimes it works but in most cases it require to remove flash from the board program it with the programmer and solder it on the board.

So here is the trick,

Download the bios. Extract it and look forward for .bin file, get the clean pen drive which is format as FAT32 partition. Put the file on the pen drive. Then plug the pen drive to the broken laptop, and here is most important thing.

Keep two button : Button " B " and " windows button ( is located between FN and Alt ). Then press start. You will see that the pen drive if blinking ( if you have led build in ) and after 25-30min turn off the laptop, and try to turn it on. Sometimes it helps if the I/O blocks of the flash had been written, if not all what can you do is to use programmer to flash it.
