Yes I've heard of a few cases where Gateway ships out "remanufactered" computers to customers. However, at the same time Gateway often runs discounted systems which we can assume are remanufactered so its rather odd. All in all in the overall population of computers Gateway sells you have less than a 10% chance of getting a "used" laptop.
FYI just in case you don't know but remanufactered isn't always used machinery I purchase refurbed stuff from a dozen companies and 80% of what I see is still sealed stuff it's just that the end user decides not to get it and sends it back. I mean I've gotten laptops that have the plastic still on the LCD, and desktop machines where the boxes are brand new (most of these companies I buy from don't rebox they just reseal and its quite obvious when I do find a used machine).
