I have a Satellite L355-7905 laptop that has three USB ports. One port I hooked up a 4 port hub which I had my usb cell phone cable, external drive, and tv to pc converter hooked up on the hub. A few days ago I found a cell phone on the ground. Of course there was no charger, and the phone was dead. I wanted to charge it to see if it told whose it was or if it was any good. So I took an old webcam usb cable, stripped it and then connected the positive and negative wires to the appropriate places on the phone. When I did this, I heard my external drive turn off and on as I kept trying to position the wires on the cell battery. Then it just stayed off altogether.
In an act of stupidity, since it didn't work, I thought it was temporary so I hooked up the phone to the other usb port where I had my mouse. The phone finally charged enough to see if it worked. But now my USB ports won't work. Any of them. The one I had my mouse hooked up to will support the laptop cooling fan I hook up and turn it on, but nothing else will work through it. The fan comes up as Device Not Recognized.
I restarted the computer, did system restore, reinstalled to out of box state, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. Nothing is working. When restarting, my computer brings up BSOD with the code BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER.
I noticed when uninstalling the usb's, that when I get to the Miniport Ich9 239A, it will not uninstall. It brings up the same BSOD as before.
Is there any kind of way to fix this or did I blow the ports to where they will have to be replaced?
