Dell E6320 - mini-hdmi to 30 inch 3007WFP?

Hello,

 

I recently received a Dell E6420 notebook and I would like to hook it up to my existing 30 inch monitor. It is a 3007wfphc.

 

I tried using a mini-hdmi to hdmi dongle with a hdmi to dual link DVI cable (so it says on the cable bag anyways) but that only nets me a resolution of 1280x800.

 

Besides getting a docking station + a Display port to Dual link DVI Powered adapter is there any way to use this new laptop on the 30 inch monitor?

What is the resolution setting for the notebook before you toggled it over to the external? Try to set the tv manually with the setting from the internal? The Hz frequency matches?

It is not a TV but rather a Dell 30 inch monitor. It can support resolutions up to 2560x1600 including 1920x1080.

 

I am not setting the display to Monitor only but rather extended and it sets the monitor to 1280x800 right away, I tried rebooting etc and it just won't let me go higher.

 

It is set to 60hz which is what my desktops dual link DVI uses when connected to the Dell 30 inch (and it works fine)

The only thing I can think of is that it is possible that the GPU on this Dell notebook model does not support dual-link DVI.

According to Intel this notebook supports up to 2560x1600 and HDMI 1.4 with 3D and DirectX 10.1.

 

I am baffled at well :) been at this all day and not getting anywhere.

The specs you mentioned is fine. It's the dual-link DVI configuration that throws most of us off (hardware configuration constraint)

I guess I will be getting that docking station after all :)

 

Now which docking station to get!  It seems like dell docking stations with DVI don't do dual link and only the display port does dual link?
