Go through the options carefully. You will be presented with many entries pertaining to the game that would need to be removed. As always - create a restore point first

Thanks, I have the trial downloaded, the GTA 4 doesn't come up so I'll have to do a force uninstall of the folder

Other than the fact my laptop randomly shut down after uninstalling GTA 4, it uninstalled so I pressed 'scan' and a few seconds later it shut down, hopefully thats normal 001_tt2.gif oh well I'll get back in like an hour and a half looking at how long GTA 4 takes to install

I FINALLY got it working, turns out it was Nvidia Control Panel all along, for some reason when you don't have one of the options set to 'full screen' it will show the black lines :/
Well GTA 4 is working better now because of lower resolution, now all I need to do is get Turbo Boost working sad.gif

Good new then. Takes different tools to get the right supsected culprit wink.gif

Turbo Boost - another issue with old or corrupted drivers again? laugh4.gif

What do I do? Should I reinstall Nvidia too?
Check the scaling settings in the NVidia Control panel.

Yeah it is, well I actually do not know, I've made sure I uninstalled a ton of drivers then I installed all the needed drivers for Turbo Boost (which seems to only be activated from Power 4 Gear Hybrid) but when I try installing Power 4 Gear Hybrid I still get that same error sad.gif

"The installer was interrupted before Asus Power4Gear Hybrid could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again"

And no matter how many times I restart it still says that error, it won't even work when I install from the original install disk for drivers, it just says 'failed' after I try. bored.gif

I don't know if P4G expects some other Asus software to be installed. You could try to clean your registry from possible P4G leftovers before trying to install again. And try to find the latest P4G -check the Asus download site.

Yeah, but I don't know where I would have to do a clean sweep on my computer for this to work, and I think all of my Asus programs are installed too...

Same, it's weird, maybe because GTA 4 went under 1024 x whatever
other games usually stay like 1024 x whatever and up, I don't know though...

I did not see any patches pertaining to this issue on the game's site. May be nVidia itself has a bug - have you tried some other versions of nVidia driver?

cheers ...

Naww, I wouldn't even want to try them anymore because this patch runs great, oh yeah, before we end this discussion, do you know any ways to reduce overheating?

Throttling down CPU, better thermal paste and in emergency a notebook cooler winknudge.gif

Downclocking GPU - if there's enough fps during gaming. Done it sometimes to reduce fan noise.
