How to safely get rid of bloatware

Thread Starter

Hi,

I just bout a new Satellite L735-10Z for my 12 years daughter. I was shocked to see more than 20 Toshiba packages!

I really don't know why companies go such length and spend millions on developing such annoying software.

I've attached a screen shot of current software packages installed by Toshiba. Could you please advice which one can be removed safely without affecting laptop operation (i.e. non-driver stuff).

My daughter's main usage for this laptop is....yes Facebook & Twitter with casual Photoshop...

Your advice is highly appreciated....

Cheers

Abdul

Before you do anything, use the Recovery Media Creator to make your recovery DVDs. I think it needs 3 DVDs..that will give you restore disk which will put it back in the same condition it came out of the box...be very careful of which ones you delete, as some can be very useful

I would personally disable what I don't need in the start up processes and services instead of removing apps nowadays. cClean is a good free tool for this (disabling) task.

The only bloatware I consider at the moment is the antivirus software that comes stock with any machines. This, I would remove and replace it with a free un-obstrusive one like Microsoft Security Essentials

cheers ...

Yes, the trial Antivirus and also any Microsoft office trials too..if you need an office type program, try Open Office, its free and compatible with all MS formats..Given the size of the Toshiba programs installed, I would just leave them..(they dont take up that much room)
