Acer 5552g processor upgrade

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

Back in January I bought one of the Acer 5552g versions. This one, according to CPU-Z has an AMD Phenom II n930. It lists the Package as Socket 1 (638 .. which I assume refers to the number of pins).

The mainboard details are, unsurprisingly, rather vague, and, to me anyway, uninformative.

Is anyone here aware of what, if any, upgrade options exist (assuming the processor isn't soldered in .. it wasn't on my last acer, which was nice!)

Thanks!

Jeremy

Are you sure that it is not Socket S1? Socket 1 is Intel specific if I remember it correctly

It is indeed S1 - I missed the S, despite knowing better.

Thanks for clarifying.

I don't know if there is a better one yet on the mobile side of AMD, but you do have a quad core installed already with this AMD Phenom II X4 n930

cheers ...

I was hoping there might be something out there with a better cache on it, or perhaps a slight boost in speed, but it seems I'm stymied.
