My sister's laptop keeps spontaneously rebooting. It is irregular in timing, except it's even worse when her iPhone is synchronising. This machine came with Blista on it and was upgraded to 7 Ultimate [x32] using a non-oem disk. All updates and drivers are installed and no other problems are noted. No detectable hardware faults are present.
The logs are reporting nothing more than a note to say "the shutdown was unexpected" and an "Event ID: 89 Kernel-Power" ACPI enumeration. The air vents are clean and there are no overheating issues.
I notice Acer have an updated BIOS for this machine and Win 7, it is advisable to try that update to see if it fixes things? [I have found a reference to Realtek audio drivers being an issue and am investigating that.] I am wondering if there is either an ACPI or spin-down power saving error.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
