Hi everyone, I'm in the process of configuring a new laptop. I need a pretty light and mobile computer since I will be traveling for the next 10 months with my laptop. For the moment I'm looking into the x220 from Lenovo.
This computer will mostly be used for programming since I'm studying software engineering. I need your opinion on some of the parts. I was thinking about buying the more expensive parts somewhere else online since lenovo is charging a premium for some upgrade that I think i can get for a better price. So here is my configuration from the lenovo website for the moment.
Intel Core i5-2540M Processor (2.60GHz, 3MB L3, 1333MHz FSB) with Intel Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.3GHz
12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband
Ready, 2x2 Antenna
Intel HD 3000 Graphics
2 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 (1 DIMM)
UltraNav with Fingerprint Reader
720p HD Camera
250GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
9 Cell Li-Ion Battery
Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 with antenna
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN
total : 982.79$ CANADIAN DOLLARS

As you might have guessed, I took the cheapest memory option. I was thinking about buying 2x 4GB online somewhere else. (lenovo asks 204$ to upgrade from 2gb to 8gb)
Also, I choosed the cheapest hard drive option. I was think about buying an SSD drive, but then again lenovo is asking 300$ for a 128 SSD.
So here is a list of question that I have.
First, what do you think of this build. Do you think the Lenovo x220 is a good option? I already have a lenovo t61p and i'm very satisfied with the quality. I won't be using the computer for gaming.

Also, I have the 4 options for the processor,
Intel Core i5-2410M Processor (2.30GHz, 3MB L3, 1333MHz FSB)
[add $46.75] Intel Core i5-2520M Processor (2.50GHz, 3MB L3, 1333MHz FSB) with Intel Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.2GHz
[add $89.25] Intel Core i5-2540M Processor (2.60GHz, 3MB L3, 1333MHz FSB) with Intel Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.3GHz
[add $208.25] Intel Core i7-2620M Processor (2.70GHz, 4MB L3,1333MHz FSB) with Intel Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.4GHz

Initially i was going to go with the i7 core, but then I saw online that the i7 was not a quad core processor and that the performance was very similar to the i5-2540m. Anyway I really don't know what would be the best option since the difference in price is very narrow and the difference in performance is probably not huge. What do you think would be the best performance for price option.

Also, I have 3 option for the Wifi Adapter. Again the difference in price is very small but I really don't know what is the difference between those options :
ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n
[add $8.50] Intel WiFi Link 1000
[add $17.00] Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN

And finally, if I choosed to go with this laptop, what do you think would be the best option for an SSD drive and for the 8GB memory? I was hoping not to put more than 200$ in the hard drive and maybe 100$ for the 8GB if possible.
Thank you very much!
