Gateway M-1625 overheating. HELP!!!

Thread Starter
I have a Gateway M-1625 laptop that I got 1 year ago. It is outside of warranty. It worked perfectly fine, but one day I put in a DVD to watch, and suddenly it shut down on me after about 5 minutes of watching the movie. Ever since then, I've tried to get it to stay on, but it just shuts down after getting really, really hot. I installed Speedfan, and I confirmed that the fan temperature was way too high, and it was definitely overheating. I jacked up the fan speed and tried a fan cooling pad, and none of them do anything to even slow down the time I can keep it up. I'm not sure what else could be the issue. I am trying to get this fixed. I saved up for this for a while. And now, I've got squat. Please let me know of any solutions you may have to this issue. Thank you.

Again, it wasn't a gradual thing. It had no issues until i put that movie in.

Time to take the machine apart and giving it some good cleaning and new thermal paste.
