ASUS notebook K52F: "ACMON.exe" using 85% of menory

ASUS notebook K52F --

Last week when I logged on, the notebook was very slow. I looked at the task manager list of processes and discovered that ACMON.exe (Splendid) suddenly started using 85% of memory (4GB total memory). I was NOT watching a movie or video, and had NEVER explicitly launched or used Splendid. Even when I rebooted the notebook, the program still used 85% of all memory. I was able to change the name of the executable from "ACMON.exe" to "ACMON.exe.old" to stop the program from running the next time I rebooted the machine, and this solved the problem.

Anyone know why this occurred?

Should I reinstall Splendid for Windows 7? Or should I just ignore Splendid as just another bloated ASUS software package?

Thank you.

I would just disable the (automatic) start up of the processs and/or service of this file and leave it

cheers ...

I'd check to see if it's the real Splendid driver or a malware program with the same name. Splendid should not be using anywhere near that much memory.

As to whether to keep or remove the actual driver, I find it useful for preset color scenarios, but it really depends on your personal preferences.
