My current system is a KT4V-L with an 80 GB IDE drive dual booted with XP & Slackware 13.0. After hosing my Linux's lilo.conf so that I can't get back in, I am considering adding an ULTRA66 IDE controller and putting my DVD ROM/RW on that as slave/master respectively and adding 2 SATA drives to the existing IDE mobo ports via converters. I would then use Parted Magic to copy XP to the second SATA drive and install Slackware 13.37 on the 1st SATA. If this is possible I would then, having made the 13.0 partitions readable from 13.37, just copy the data across to 13.37.
1) is this doable?
2) can I later remove the 13.0 partitions from 13.37 using Linux ? I have added XP partitions to be added so presume I should be able to do the same with the old Linux. Just don't know if they can be easily removed. Where can I look to find out how to do that ?
