Acer Ferrari 4005 wlmi HDD replacement problems

I have a Acer Ferrari 4005 wlmi.  The original HDD finally went bad so I purchased a replacement (ED Scorpio Blue, PATA 250 GB)  I tried to install and boot up on the original System CD.  It starts to load and the just comes up to a white/gray blank screen w/ a cursor at top left.  Enter & function keys do nothing.  I looked in the BIOS and the drive isn't recognized.  I put it into a portable disk drive and it is recognized and working fine.  I tried to boot off the System Recovery CD's and same.  I then tried to use my previous bu CD and get to a blank Acer Recovery screen but no options or restore progress.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Have been working on this for 4 days now.

I personally don't think that your system can see (recognize) anything larger than 130+ GB of HDD. You can either partition the disk first or get a smaller one

Well, i did create another partition, but the only option i had was exFAT and NTFS.  One partition is exFAT and the other NTFS.  Still not recognized in BIOS.  Is there a way to partition both as FAT32 since the orig hdd was formated that way?

What you need is to partition this disk into 2: 130 and 120 each, try NTFS for both just in case. GPart Live CD is one tool that I use often. Boot up with the Windows installation CD and it should recognize one partition
