Help with resurrecting old 600m

Thread Starter
Hello,
I have a Dell 600m with a fried motherboard. I recently replaced the motherboard with one from a d600 and everything seems to be working fine. I plan to use this as a general purpose Linux notebook and have some questions about specs. Currently it is
1.4ghz Banias pentium M
512mb Ram
100gb 5400rpm HDD
Radeon 9000 videocard.

I plan to upgrade Ram to about 2gigs
And I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading the CPU to a 1.7ghz Dothan CPU which I can get for less than 20 bucks. Would I notice any improvements? Thanks for the time. I'm also open to any other suggestions if I'm missing anything.

If that 1,7GHz fits, go for it. Also a faster drive (7200rpm), and last but not least .. keep the software environment clean

cheers ...
