Hello!!
It is a pleasure to participate in this forum that helped me a lot because almost all the doubts that had already been very well answered!

I have a very strange problem.
I bought an HP Pavilion 1220us completely disassembled for $ 70.00.
Once assembled i found two problems that is kind of a stripe that appears at the bottom of the LCD and HD with badblocks.
The LCD does not hurt so I went to HD and bought a Samsung HM500JI
That's where the problem.
The BIOS does not dedecta HD, I tested in the PC and the Compaq C500, okay formatting and installing windows without any problems.

Interestingly, the 1220us works perfectly with the C500 HD is a Seagate Momentus 5400.3
And then, what do you think is happening?

Thank you all for your help!!!

Is Advanced Hardware Control Interface (under SATA mode) enabled in the BIOS? If so, try changing the setting to Compatible or Legacy and see if it recognizes the drive after that.

I'd move on to a different hard drive at this point.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Steve. If after looking through everything in BIOS, the hard drive still isn't detected, it's probably faulty. That happens every once in a while. I'd see if you can exchange the hard drive for a new one.

In a last attempt I decided to check the thermal paste and I was lucky, the original folder was dry, now is working perfectly.

I think about buying an SSD because it does not work, I use the desktop!

Again, thank you very much this forum is really great!
