Anyone tried 8GB of RAM in Dell Inspiron e1405?

I have a 2nd laptop for a child that I want to upgrade to 4GB of RAM so I can effectively go to a 64-bit Windows OS.  My Inspiron e1405 has 4GB of RAM in it now, and I was wondering if I could upgrade THAT one to 8GB and put that 4GB into the other laptop?

I didn't realize that this model can support more than 2GB. Does your current machine actually sees all 4GB ram?

Yes. It's been on 4GB since I went to Win 7 64-bit on the Win 7 beta launch date.

The E1405 does not support 8 gb of ram. You may have installed 4 gb of ram but your computer does not use it all. Because of the chipset limitations your computer will only see about 3.25 gb of ram. You can verify this by pressing F2 at boot and enter into the BIOS to retrieve this information.
