Travelmate 5720 memory issue

Hi guys.
I;m new on this forum so ... pleased to meet you all.
I have a Acer Travelmate 5720 ms2205 with 2x1GB DDR2 667 memory and BIOS version 1.32. I bought 2x2GB Kingmax DDR2 800 memory and replaced the current one. Here the problems began. I can't even finish installing Windows 7 Home Premium x64, I get blue screens or the laptop freezes totally. Reverting to the old memory everything runs smooth as butter.
I guess a BIOS update could fix this BUT ....
I've been doing quite a lot of reading around on Travelmate 5720 BIOS updating and nobody recommends it. Many tried and bricked their machines.

Can somebody tell me exactly what BIOS update to use ( one that will work for sure ) ?!? and how to properly update ? I'm quite desperate.
Oh ... almost forgot ... memory runs perfectly on a Dell D630 so no mem issues what so ever.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

What OS are you currently running? Vista?

You want to update the bios becuase it will take full advantage of the new RAM?

I'm currently running Win 7 Ulimate 32bit.
I want upgrade the bios so I can install the 2x2GB i got and run Win 7 Ultimate X64. With the current BIOS and the 2x2GB ram i get all sorts of random freezing and blue screens while installing the x64 OS.

So you think it's the bios that's preventing you from installing the 64-bit OS?

I would just try some DDR2 667 ram module instead - it might have an issue with the faster ram

cheers ...
