Why cant I get a CD into my MacBook Pro?

A few weeks ago I watched a dvd & then when I ejected it I tried to insert another movie to watch & it seems the DVD player is locked & will not let me stick a dvd/cd into the slot?
It almost as if there is another CD already in there? bored.gif

Please help me figure this out.
What can I do to release what ever it is so I can use the drive?
I really don't wanna have to take it into the Apple store.

No I actually don't think there is because as I wrote above I watched a video then ejected it & wanted to watch another one & it refused to accept it as if there was one in there already???
Unless it could actually play a dvd with one already in there before i stuck the movie in there & it only ejected one of them..

How would I go about looking at my drive & hitting eject?
I only know how to operate it when I insert a disk & the controls pop up.
I'm thinking if I could figure that out it would go through the motion even if one was not in there & open up to receive another DVD?

Yes, sounded like a good plan, open up the control or media player and see if there is something in there

Ok, Thanks.
I just looked & do see that it thinks it has a CDin it because it gives me the option to eject the disc, but it dont eject anything or even make noise.
Yet I'm sure it thinks it has one in there because as I turn on the laptop the drive makes noise as if its confused.
& I've stuck a card in there & can feel something in the way not allow a CD to go in & as it started acting up when I turn on the CD I used a card in there hoping that would keep it open, but no the thing keep moving & trying its best to lock the CD thats not there into place?
I remember the last CD that was in there it was a pain to get it to eject & since then I've had this issue... WTF?!?!

I'm thinking hardware & not software... bored.gif

Like mentioning on above posts, try to eject the ding when your notebook is upside down, lie on the floor and go for it. This will serve as a bit more gravity to pull the disk down and helping the device to spook it out winknudge.gif

Like Mentioned before there is no disk in it, Unless it was able to play one while another was in there?

& is the word "ding" slang for something?
I tried to hit eject from I-Tunes & it makes no noise, I'll try it again right now while up side down & let you know.

Nope! Does nothing, not even a slight sound at all, yet when turning it on is when it does.

Might you have a link to an animation as to how the system operates so I can show you what its doing?

Start up your macbook whlst holding on the mouse click or holding down the touchpad. Then use a credit card or something similar, sliding it in 1/3 and kinda pressing down on the disk ding if it is in there. Yep - everything and anything is a ding to me laugh4.gif
