So after last week's news of HP getting out of the tablet and smartphone markets, there was also speculation that HP wanted to dump their PC division, much like IBM did with their Thinkpad line to Lenovo. The rumor this week is Samsung is interested in picking up HP's PC division. Why would Samsung do this? Well Samsung needs to grow. Acer might also be a good alternative although their revenue is steadily declining. MSI is too small for Samsung, so they next logical company with the cash to absorb HP would be Samsung. "There are also reports that HP has talked with Hon Hai [Foxconn] and Chinese high-tech giant Lenovo to explore the possibility of a deal." All this is exciting in the PC world and it will only bring good things to consumers with stronger competition to the high end PC makers such as Apple or Sony. Don't expect a deal anytime soon. Reports indicate whether HP decides to spin off their HP division or sell, exploring this option could take 12-18 months.
