I have had several Dells and have always bought extended warranties.  And they have paid off by extending the life of my laptoip by 1-2 years.  I'm looking at an ASUS U46E which appears to be available only at Bestbuy (Office Depot is backordered).  Being a grad student, it will get a lot of use.  Treated very well as I am a former IT professional but it will be well used.

Second choice is Samsung QX411 - also BBuy but am looking elsewhere and into the warranty.

Not to start a firestorm of replies or insults of Bestbuy...

But what experiences have people had with their warranties?  2 year especially?

Any decent experiences?

I know from talking to them that many GeekSquad agents aren't much more that computer users/salespersons promoted into a white shirt and tie.  Some are extremely technical but they are just as rare. So I'm looking at the replacement and service value of the warranty.

I may just forego the BBuy warranty and rely on the one year warranty and 1 year extension from my Amex card.  But the 1 year is still weak.
