Dell 1737 how to disable onboard touchpad mouse

Thread Starter

I have a Dell 1737 and am using a external Logitech MX Performance mouse.  When typing  I sometimes hit the touchpad and the curser goes flying.  I can not fine a way to disable it.  Does anyone have any ideas, any help would be apprecaited

You don't have the option of "Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present" in your touchpad properties?

Thanks for the quick replay.,  I suspected that  there should be one, but I sure can not find it.  Other laptops I have had in the past auto detected a USB or a  PS/2 mouse and would shutdown the Laptops Touchpad accordingly.  I have looked and there is no option that I can see

I wonder if you can try re-installing the Dell drivers first.

That sounds like something to try, it might take a few day since I lost power over the weekend and am not at home and have limited Internet access.  Thanks for the response and I'll let you know in a few days.

Regards,

Lou
