I have just replaced my hard disk as the other, I think, was bad. I have reformatted this drive on my own machine and then installed it into this netbook. I then pressed f2 and went to the bios to make sure that it knew the drive was in the machine - it recognizes the drive. I then hooked up an external dvd with the windows xp installation disk, told the bios that this would be the first thing to search for booting and let it go. It transferred all the files and came to the operating system install. I pressed enter to install and then it told me that it could not find the drive. I went back into the bios to see how it was setup and:
ata/ide configuration was set to enhanced
configure sata as AHCI
primary ide master is the fujitsu I had installed
As far as I can tell this is correct although I do not have documentation on the bios setup for this machine. I have no idea why it will not recognize the hard drive that I installed given that the bios thinks that it is there.
Can anybody tell me what I am missing here?
