Network Controller?

Hello everyone!

My Sony Vaio VPCF1190x had a bad Hard drive so I purchased a new one and threw on Windows 7. Unfortunately I had to re-install a few drivers and everything looks fine except for the wireless part. In my networks, it shows that I do not have wireless. I checked device manager and it tells me this

Other Devices -> Network Controller.

I checked Sonys website and downloaded everything from Network, Wireless, and Wireless LAN and still no success.

And yes my wireless switch is on :)

Any suggestions?

Have you tried Windows updates? Take a look at the optional updates after the scan - most if not all the times, Windows 7 will pick up the correspondent Wireless Driver

Sorry I'm a noob. I go to Windows Updates and it all looks fine. Where can I find the optional stuff?

On that screen you should see "no important update" and right underneath it there is such and such optional updates available - click on that and see if any hardware drivers are being present

Doesn't look like there are any.

I see from the pics that you set "update only for Windows". This might prevent Win7 from picking up other drivers and apps

Would you happen to know how to change it?

2nd entry on the left pane - "change settings" Go there and mark all options

Yup. I've downloaded all from Wireless, Network, and Wireless LAN.

Let's try this - go back to your device manager and remove the network controller entry. Restart and see if Windows can do something about it

You have other issue here. Install Sony Update apps / drivers and see if you can pick up anything there

If this does not work, I suggest that you try re-installing from scratch again. Before you do, I would check the hard drive again and see if any loose connections somewhere, though I doubt it very much.

I am signing off - it is past midnight where I am at the moment, and a long day ahead tomorrow - no public holiday here laugh4.gif

Catch you later if the problem still persists
