HP Recovery Manager Corrupted My Hard Drive

Hi all.

I have a HP Pavillion dv5-1111ea notebook.

From time to time I use the recovery manager on the partition to send my notebook back to factory settings, just to keep it running smoothly etc.

However, this time I have attempted to use the recovery manager which said it had completed successfully, but has actually corrupted the hard drive. Now the recovery manager will not load at all, I have tried a full Vista DVD and XP discs to try and allow me to format the hard drive to start fresh. But none of these options will load either.

Somebody mentioned that I should update the bios. But how exactly am I supposed to do that without an OS installed?

And is there any way that I have re-format the hard drive through the BIOS or other way? I have tried recovery discs, and they wont load either.

Thanks

You can try using GParted Live CD, boot it up from there and reformat the drive - if the drive is not so thoroughly corrupted.

What type of error did you receive when you tried booting from Vista and XP installation disks?

cheers ...
