So anyone fancy taking a spin with this much taunted Windows version?

Faster, nicer looking, touch support ... all-in-one OS!

32 and 64 bits available, but clean install only

Have fun.

Is that an actual release?

Also, I'd like to point out I've never had a Blue Screen of death on any two of my VIsta machines or my Win7 machine.

I thought BSOD was an XP thing.

laugh4.gif Other members don't seem to be with your opinion from many of the threads / posts here

What do you mean by actual release? It is an official developer build, just take it as a pre-alpha release winknudge.gif

Ooh, my test machine got all of a 2.0 in the Experience Index of the Developer Build! laugh4.gif

Setup was certainly simple enough, but I'm not liking the horizontal scroll with icons half off the screen.

I've got to say, the new Task Manager looks nice!

I need to dig up a spare drive this evening and install this. The test machine at work is doing well though, apps like MS office and Adobe are running with no glitch at the moment

could always do it this way: http://www.hanselman.com/blog/GuideToInstallingAndBootingWindows8DeveloperPreviewOffAVHDVirtualHardDisk.aspx

thats how i did it, got it running on my desktop... the multi-OS chooser is GUI now, which is pretty neat. im gonna have to try installing video drivers tho the one included on the disc is kind of unstable for my GPU

So far so good except the issue finding driver for TI XPress 200M graphic card. Funny that it works fine under Windows 7 Ultimate though. Search continues

Resigned to work as such for the moment - Firefox NoSquint saves the day. Internal LCD looks perfect even with the lower resolution on this MSI - more like the original 1200 x 800

So far so good with this developer build of Windows 8 64-bits.

I installed on my MSI MS-1013. The installation went without a hitch. Surprisingly even with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter - yes, I could find any driver that would support the ATI Xpress 200M on this baby, though there was no issue with Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate - resolution was set at 1024 x 768 but the internal LCD presents itself like 1200 x 780 (amazing) and very clear.

Firefox Nightly Build runs smoothly. Apart from the shutdown and restart button now hiding away within the Settings of the Metro Menu (one can also use Ctrl-Alt-Del) I see this as a keeper til now.

As virus scanner I use the standard free and reliable Microsoft Security Essential. More to come.

And your experiences? Do share with us all

One nagging thing is Adobe Flash player - it would work most of the time but the warning of missing plug-in will come now and then even though the item has been installed. It is expected with new OS, hopefully Adobe can get it up quickly enough giving that Microsoft is going the way of HTML5 with this Windows 8

Well, I got my first improved and cool BSOD laughing.gif

After the last updates ...

Your PC ran into a problem that it couldn't
handle, and now it needs to restart
You can search for the error online: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED(Rtnic64.sys)

and of course, I had to switch off the comp and restarted it - then it went further with the updates - like nothing happened
