Need help with touchpad and Lubuntu

Thread Starter

I have the ASUS X52F notebook and I just installed Lubuntu on it.  Problem is, I can't get the touchpad to work worth a s***!  It recognizes it but I have to practically hammer on the touchpad (and twice; very quickly) to get it to highlight text.  I installed a program called Synaptiks which is a generic touchpad utility but it doesn't have an option to adjust the sensitivity.  Lubuntu doesn't use xorg.conf anymore so it's not simply a matter of editing a file.  I'm getting very frustrated!  ASUS has no help with regards to Linux, period.
