HP Compaq 6735s wont switch on and light flashes 8 times.

Hi

 

I have an HP Compaq 6735s which won't switch on. The laptop was on and working fine, then all of a sudden it went off and won't come back on. When I press the power button the power light flashes amber 8 times and it doesn't do anything else.

 

I have tried removing the battery and switching it on but then nothing happens (the light doesn't even flash). I have also tried another power adapter from my car and that doesn't do anything either.

 

Can anybody help me? Does anybody know what those 8 flashes mean?

 

Any help would be really appreciated.

I would try with another battery and ac adapter, remove and re-seat anything that you can (ram, drive etc ..) and hope for the best - but looking like that your system board gave up the ghost
